We're not sure the lump-sum deposits from ServiceTitan or Housecall Pro are actually reconciled
ServiceTitan and Housecall Pro batch a day or a week of customer card payments into one lump deposit before it hits the bank, and that single deposit still has to get split back out to the individual jobs it came from. When that split never happens, the deposit gets marked reconciled just because the total matches the bank, even though nobody confirmed which jobs actually got paid.
A real reconciliation traces every dollar in that lump deposit back to the job and the processing fee that was pulled out of it, not just a matching ending balance that happens to look right on the surface.
A payout marked reconciled without being split can hide a job that was never actually paid, a double-counted customer deposit on an install, or an unexplained processing fee, and by the time it surfaces months later, tracing it back through weeks of batched deposits takes far longer to fix.
